An introduction to forest school
Are you curious about what Forest School is all about? This one-day introductory training course is perfect if:
- You’d like to understand the ethos and principles of Forest School.
- You’re a staff member or volunteer supporting Forest School sessions.
- Your setting is considering introducing Forest School and you want to explore what’s involved.
- You’re thinking about becoming a Forest School Leader and want to take the first step.
What the course offers
This non-accredited, practical training day provides a hands-on introduction to Forest School. You will:
- Learn about the ethos and principles of Forest School.
- Develop your knowledge of the woodland environment and how it can be used as a rich learning resource.
- Gain some basic practical skills, such as knots, shelter building, tool use and safe fire lighting.



Who is it for?
This course is designed for anyone who is curious about Forest School, as well as staff, assistants, and volunteers who are (or will be) involved in supporting Forest School sessions.
By the end of the day, you’ll come away with a clearer understanding of Forest School, new skills and plenty of inspiration for taking learning outdoors.
