WOODLAND WELLBEING AT CHARLOTTE’S WOOD

Spending time in woodland has long been known to support both health and well-being and Charlotte’s Wood provides a beautiful, tranquil space to do just that. Throughout the year, a range of activities are offered to nurture adults’ wellbeing. These include Wellbeing Retreat Days, which invite relaxation and connection through nature-based crafts and campfire cooking, Woodland Working Parties, where participants gently care for the woodland by pruning, maintaining pathways and collecting firewood and Seasonal Crafting Workshops, such as Christmas Wreath Making.

FOREST BATHING

Forest Bathing – or ‘Shinrin Yoku’ – is a Japanese practice of nature therapy that involves immersing yourself in the natural world, slowing down and connecting through your senses. Studies have shown that Forest Bathing can increase relaxation and help reduce anxiety and depression.

Charlotte is the resident Forest Bathing Guide at National Trust Sutton Hoo where she leads regular sessions in its peaceful pine woods and historic burial ground. Each session lasts around two hours and includes a gentle walk of about one mile with guided ‘invitations’ to connect with the landscape. The sessions conclude with a calming tea ceremony offering a moment to pause and reflect on your experience.

GROUP WELL-BEING SESSIONS

Charlotte also offers bespoke woodland experiences – from corporate team-building days and school professional development sessions to private celebrations and small-group gatherings. These sessions provide the perfect opportunity to slow down, recharge and reconnect with nature in a restorative woodland setting.
